About Sheila Fredericks
I am an experienced and dedicated Instructional Technologist with over 15 years’ experience helping students and teachers learn and use technology, including 10 years as a technology teacher, and three years at Delaware County Community College. I have an Instructional Technology Specialist Certification, a Master’s degree in Computer-Based Learning, and Advanced Studies in Instructional Technology/eLearning. I belong to online and local communities where we share ideas and keep each other updated on new and exciting technologies. I am highly motivated and have demonstrated proficiency and experience. I have extensive experience with different computer platforms, different grading systems/LMS systems, Google Apps for Education, Web 2.0 programs, and numerous programs for classroom use and integration. I am passionate about technology in education and making learning fun, engaging, and meaningful! I am experienced helping teachers and students with varying levels of technology knowledge, and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment.
I’ve taught and integrated everything from the traditional Microsoft Office programs to 21st Century tools web tools, digital video and green screening, Skype and Google Hangouts, STEM and hands-on activities. I’m always looking for new tools, new ways of teaching, and new ways of integrating. I am experienced with Macs, PCs, and iPads. I hate boring and try to put fun and excitement into my teaching, whether it’s students or adults! I have experience with many of the programs on your list, and experience with programs that are similar. Those that I don’t know, I can learn quickly.
I believe today’s generation, and adult students learn better using technology and having technology integrated into their lessons, and where students are active participants in their learning. Students are more engaged; technology allows for more differentiation; students can learn anywhere, anytime, and learning can be extended beyond the school day. While watching students learn using technology, you can see the joy, engagement, and determination on their faces! Technology also allows teachers to record lessons so that students can revisit it at home or on a cell phone. I can show teachers how to easily record their lessons. I try to make lessons interesting and engaging, whether it’s students or teachers. I show teachers how technology can, not only, make their lives easier, but create more powerful lessons for their students.
